Enterprise data partnerships
Scale AI data partnerships
Scale AI partners with established businesses to turn operational records into training data. Its preferred starting point is 40 or more employees, with opportunities assessed individually. The program can begin with a limited scope, making the first decision which workflow and data package the company is prepared to evaluate.

Who it’s for
Who is Scale AI’s data program for?
Scale’s program page names software, financial services, healthcare, industrial operations and other sectors. It looks for established records, real workflows, specialist context and an aligned decision-maker. Forty employees is described as a preference, not an automatic acceptance rule.
Choose a process with a clear beginning, decision and result. For example, an inventory could describe a service request, the internal assessment and the completed work order. That example is a planning aid. Scale must determine whether the records support its proposed use.
Get prepared
What should you prepare?
Prepare a small scope brief before considering a wider partnership. A bounded first package makes the commercial and operational discussion more specific.
- Workflow: Describe one process and the outcome recorded when it finishes.
- Sources: Identify the messages, documents and business systems needed to understand it.
- Time period: Define the historical window and whether later deliveries might be possible.
- Approval owner: Name the person who can approve the package and respond to review questions.
- Exclusions: List confidential, third-party or restricted material to keep outside the proposed scope.
Our business-data guide includes a sequence for moving from an inventory to a proposed license. A scope brief should explain the asset without transferring it.
Revenue & payments
How does payment work?
Scale describes partnerships that may support recurring revenue and says a project need not start with an entire workspace archive. Payment, cadence and the licensed package must be agreed for the particular engagement. Source: Scale’s partnership FAQ.
Compare the initial package and future deliveries separately. Ask which payments are committed, what makes a package acceptable, how additional scope is priced and whether you can stop supplying new records. An opportunity for recurring revenue is not the same as a guaranteed recurring payment.
Example deals and partnerships
No named, completed company-record licensing deal was located in the sources reviewed. Scale’s data-partnership page describes recurring compensation opportunities and package approvals, but explicitly labels its displayed partnership value as illustrative. Scale’s broader service contracts or investment announcements do not establish a company-data seller’s earnings.
What to ask for
Ask for an anonymized example covering a comparable workflow, the first approved delivery, any follow-on data packages and payments actually received. Separate payment for licensing records from any other services included in the agreement.

Rights & control
Which licensing terms deserve attention?
Scale states that de-identification happens inside the company’s environment and that each package requires approval. Ask how the proposed workflow implements those controls and what information is retained after acceptance. Source: Scale’s governance description.
- Which records are processed in your environment, and which prepared outputs leave it?
- Who signs off on each package and how is that approval recorded?
- What rights apply to the first package and later updates?
- Can the partnership be narrowed or ended without changing rights already granted?

Good questions, clear answers
Questions before you apply
Must we share every company system?
Scale says partnerships can begin with a limited scope. The exact package and access arrangements are agreed for the engagement.
Are businesses below 40 employees excluded?
The public page calls 40 employees a preferred starting point and says partnerships are assessed individually. Ask about the specific dataset rather than assuming approval or rejection.
Is a referral bonus the company’s licensing payment?
No. Scale’s referral program rewards a qualifying introduction separately. The company’s compensation is defined in its data partnership agreement.
