AI data licensing: buyers, brokers and marketplaces
Direct licensing, marketplaces and managed representation offer different routes to an AI data agreement. Compare who finds the buyer, who negotiates terms, who handles delivery and how payment works. Publisher tools that charge for AI retrieval serve a different purpose from training-data licensing.
Direct licensing
A company evaluates your data and proposes an agreement. Ask who may use it, for which purposes, and what triggers payment.
Marketplace
A platform helps make datasets available to buyers. Ask about listing requirements, fees, sales responsibilities and delivery.
Representation or managed licensing
A partner helps structure and negotiate licensing opportunities. Ask how proceeds are shared and whether representation is exclusive.
Publisher tools that charge for AI retrieval are another model. Compare them separately from selling a training-data license.
Compare the relevant providers
Use the AI data directory to compare published programme requirements. Review the provider’s current terms before deciding what to share.
