Company data partnerships
Handshake AI data partnerships
Handshake AI works with businesses to evaluate and license company records for AI development. Its published referral criteria identify companies with at least 20 full-time employees and three years in operation. A first discussion establishes which records are relevant, what may be shared and whether the proposed terms fit the company.

Who it’s for
Who is Handshake AI’s data program for?
Handshake’s company-data page offers a discussion of data scope, protection and commercial terms. The referral page publishes its employee and operating-history starting points. Meeting them does not establish that every record in the business can be licensed.
Prepare a description of what the company does and how that activity appears in its systems. A business with years of transactions but little retained context has a different asset from one with decisions, revisions and outcomes preserved together. Describe those differences without attaching confidential examples to an initial inquiry.
Get prepared
What should you prepare?
Use a history map to connect the age of the business to the records that actually survive. Three years in operation does not necessarily mean three complete years of usable exports.
- Business history: Record the operating period and major changes in systems or ownership.
- Retained history: List how many years remain accessible in each relevant tool.
- Workflow examples: Describe one completed process and the records that show its stages.
- Scope owner: Identify the person who can approve exclusions and licensing rights.
- Commercial questions: Separate proposed cash payment, delivery work and any continuing obligations.
Use our inventory checklist to record gaps before a call. An incomplete archive may still merit discussion; clearly describing its limits is more useful than presenting an unsupported file count.
Revenue & payments
How does payment work?
Handshake describes compensation through a company data partnership and a discussion of terms before commitment. Treat its advertised ranges as indications of possible deals, not a valuation of your company. The written proposal should specify the dataset, acceptance criteria and payment trigger. Source: Handshake AI data partnerships.
Ask whether payment follows signing, approved delivery or another milestone. Also ask what changes if only some records are accepted and whether additional exports are optional. The separate $10,000 introducer bonus published on the referral page is not the seller’s data payment.
Example deals and partnerships
Handshake’s employer-data announcement describes purchasing company records to build AI training environments. It does not identify an individual seller or disclose that company’s completed payment. Its advertised partnership range describes potential qualified opportunities, not a documented transaction. The student-tool partnerships mentioned in the announcement are separate from company-data purchases.
What to ask for
Request a permissioned or anonymized example with comparable operating history, data sources and exclusions. Ask what was delivered, which acceptance conditions applied and when the seller was paid.

Rights & control
Which licensing terms deserve attention?
Handshake says the company determines what is shared and describes scoped, de-identified, confidential data. Confirm how those commitments appear in the proposed agreement, especially the definition of the licensed records and permitted uses. Source: published program overview.
- Can you exclude particular clients, departments or date ranges?
- What evidence confirms that the prepared data meets the agreed release standard?
- Does the license allow reuse or onward distribution, and for how long?
- Who handles a later request to correct, restrict or remove records?

When should you compare another platform?
Compare Replay for its published upfront-plus-revenue-share model and micro1 for another operational-data program. Our data-value guide helps separate the quality of the archive from the size of a marketing headline.
Good questions, clear answers
Questions before you apply
Does having 20 employees guarantee eligibility?
No. Employee count and operating history are starting criteria. Data fit, rights, quality and the proposed scope still require review.
Is this a job application for an individual?
No. The company data partnership concerns business records. Individual expert opportunities are a separate route.
Can the first conversation happen before a dataset upload?
The program offers a conversation with its team. Start by describing the business and records, then agree the process for any requested samples or transfers.
